I need to increase my knowledge of investing in stocks, etc.. What are some good books to get me pointed in the right direction. I have heard a couple people recommending the Warren Buffet books, but I wanted to hear from this board.

Also any other good financial investing forums, or sites with tutorials? thanks in advance

Hopefully in a few weeks, I will have some good picks for you guys. :dancefool

Jim Cramer's Real Money is a good one for explaining the basics of stock investing, as are several from The Motley Fool, which also has a website full of beginner's info.

If you've been investing a while, and feel comfortable with the basics, I might could recommend some others, depending on the investing style you're looking to branch out into.

I'd recommend getting a financial advisor. Unless you have a lot of time on your hands, this is the way to go. Although you should find a solid company like Northwestern or MetLife. If you want to invest in some mutual funds, I would research which companies have the best funds. You can make some good dough through some of these. SOme of these funds are yielding 10-20%

one of the best sites for learning the basics is www.fool.com (The Motley Fool website.

for some advanced speculation check out www.caseyresearch.com (Doug Casey's newsletter/website. Doug has made me a TON of money over the years.

i like listening to jim cramer a lot, and he is obviously a brilliant investor...but i've heard too many horror stories about him touting his stocks to the masses and then selling his personal stakes in them to make big personal profits. these are just accusations and they could be baseless, i don't know. but they still worry me. even so, you can learn a lot from him as well.
